Partying On Birthdays!!

Parties! Parties! Parties!

That's what ardently corresponds to the birthdays nowadays! We sleep,we eat, we work, we play , nevertheless we never forget our birthdays are approaching! As a child, I found myself always waning in thoughts about the other important stuffs in my then life, viz studies, much before my birthday would have even approached.

Too many guests to accommodate inside our 3 storied home and the large roof that I loved beyond any imagination, mostly comprised of children of my age and their ever-worrying parents. And once they all pack up their bags and leave me and my family behind in our house, me mourning again with the thought of another terrific wait till my next birthday arrives, my mother sits to open all the gifts I had received that evening leaving me patiently abiding for her to tear off the gift wraps!!

And my face once again enlightened as she opens all my lovely gifts one after another.

Aaaaaahhhhhh!! Those were days, left a long time back.!

While triffling gifts mean a lot to the children, we adults too never budge away from the little gifts and parties we get to throw at our places on our birthdays! We wait for the friends and the family to arrive with their smiling faces and of course the gifts they bring us! We start to renovate ourselves and spend more than half of the day in front of the mirror for the upcoming birthday bash. For my Birthday Bash! Its My Day!

We neglect the fact that we are one more step ahead of reaching our forfeit, the death, that will one day engulf us too very boorishly and we thus celebrate on putting some more mileage on!

But paying a penalty in future doesn't really mean we give up on celebrating our happy days, our relationships!! These remain as grotesque memories as we go along with our life!

Mausis, Boudis, Aunties, come along and say-- Oreyy baba!! Koto boro hoyegeche!! Sei chottobelai dekhechilam!! (You have grown so big! Saw you when you were a kid!), and me stunningly looking at them and smiling at some of my wicked thoughts where I relate the same facts with them!

Some of them gorging over the food like the food being served was a little more than what they have seen during their whole lifetime! And others, talking about their own sarees, brands and jewelleries and bemeaning others!

As I grow a little more each year, my priorities, my taste change and I abashedly find myself not getting flattered on the matters I previously used to do! These Parties to me, have left a very little euphoria!

I love my birthdays simple yet fun! I make sure to have all those stuffs and people who matter to me the most on my day! I make sure I have my mom, dad, my sister and my best friend on that day, partying and having fun with them rather than the phony grinning aunties.

The food, the favorite meat, a glass of wine, and my loving family and a handful of besties are all that I wanted in my birthdays!

And what else can give you more elation when the people who matter the most to you give you lovely  self made gifts! You can't stop smiling, right?!

Aaaahhhh, this what happens to me too!! :)
My bestfriend gifted me on my last bday!

My elder sister and mom too have never stopped sweeping my feet off with their own hand made recipes and gifts on my  birthdays! I'm a firm believer of these trivial things when it comes to rendering joy! So last night was the similar birthday party at our house celebrating the birthday of my very on elder sister where I cooked her favorite mutton dish as a birthday gift! Here goes one of its snap, that I clicked after the preparation was over.

How can I not make her favorite dish on her budday  myself, when she never stops swooning me off with her surprises?! :) Happy Birthday Di! :)

Alu Snatches Cattle's LunchBox!!

He came out of the court moaning and whining about the whole episode that he had to just undergo! His trusted allies (Even more than his wife, Barfi Devi) and "can-do-everything-for you" partners, gave him a rotten look narrowing their eyebrows and gestured -- Bhai sahab, we trusted you when you told we will never get caught and can live lavishly and happily ever after! Yii Kaa sahi baat hua, boliye toh!!
But they have to soon depart their ever bothering, questioning eyes away from those of Mr.Alu's!! Alu looked mysteriously mournful and looked down on the roads! Aaaaahh!! They had trusted him even more for his name! How bothering can this be now to them?!

The whole atmosphere was somewhat putrid and stifle to Mr.Alu Rasad Yadav. Never in his life did he imagine for once that he have to look at the career-devastating, rusted bars of the jail!
But what was his crime?? Ok,well, I meant mistake?!

He was just having some daily haystacks from those of a very few cattle! He was just trying to live his life with rendering enough to his family of sons and daughters and Barfi Devi, and well, yeah, some ten thousand dozens cattle!!
Being the President of the Parliament doesn't really mean he will never worry about his own little family!! Eh?!

He is a real loving and adorable father! Yeah, he is! You can surely have a real guess from the number of gorgeous babies he has!

But now, Alu ji is all set for the hell! He's trying to snatch himself away from it, but alas! He just had to go leaving his family and the fodder behind! Just as he was going to hug and bless one of his children, he remembered he can nearly delay his settlement in jail for another year or two! He has got a whole little happy family to hug and exchange blessings and then last but not the least, his dear cattle are really not far enough for him to reach them. Ohh!! This mehenat for all these years has brought him some vantage atleast!

He looked at Mr.Mishra, raised his eyebrows and gave a cunning smile!

Alas!! Was that the revenge of the previous gesture that Mr.Mishra exchanged with his trusted boss?!

But it was them who once planned to share lunch from the cattle's LunchBox!! How can Alu ji cheat on them like this??!!

The Fish Tale!!

I was being build-up and ready to put up with myself and the city of joy, Kolkata by the Dudes and their pretty partners up there. They anticipated my whole digestive system to be a true Bong and waited long for whole 9 months for me to see this city! My veins inside my truly built Bong belly ran with zest once they relished the mind-boggling taste of the "fish" and "rice"!! I was pretty much sure that I have been successful in making Them proud of me. I was here standing up to much of their expectations on which I hold clinging to, just like a faithful pet, through out my life.

I so loved being a perfect Bong. The one look at the "phish" in the road-side bazaars while I am on my way to my college, makes my tongue and heart plunge up high in the air and while I return again on that same way, my "I-could-not-stop-myself" urge to get down from the bus or auto and buy some "phishes" to my home! But I finally stop my salivating pink tongue and my pounding heart which mournfully resides slowly inside my body!! The rib cages remind my corybantic heart that it cannot ever come out from my body breaking them apart. As the bus goes surpassing the bazaars and finally gets on to the main road, my dejected heart starts to get back its previous slow paces. But the "nothing lasts forever" phrase finds its golden space inside my desperate little muscular piece in between my ribcages, which remains busy pumping my blood as always. I say, stop beta, the dinner is not that far! And mom, surely will never serve it without the fish!!

And there, my heart smiles again! :)

Being a foodie, is the most tragic episode that can happen in a woman's life, ever! Which to choose first??

The food, the fish, or the figure?!! These F's can really be that dangerous in a woman's life!

But what does the world do when they see a woman eating all that she loves without a worry about her figure?! It's a hell of a crime, really?!! The President, the Prime Minister and all others plan to take out a new law against this, keeping the rape cases aside!

The Law-- If you are a woman, you can never eat french fries, rice and all those fatty itchy stuffs! If you do, you must stay single for your entire life and no guys will ever look at you! You must be humiliated in front of all your slim, sexy friends who all have their own handsome boyfriends and husbands loving them and craving for their bodies!

Aaaahhhh!!!! The moment I was going to put the lovely smiling french fries and the rice , looking straight into my eyes and seducing me, into my salivating mouth, the Law somehow disturbed me! The saliva shifted from my very tongue to my eyes and heart!! I pulled myself away from the table of wonderful stuffs, my eyes jealous to see the guys of my family laughing viciously at me and then at the french fries and the rice which were placed proudly on the table by my mom! I looked like a loser!! I ran out of the room only to wait for them to have their dinner and then slowly creep inside and take a handful of rice and the french fries which my mommy will be surely keeping aside for me and my little heart!

But I'm a woman now and I must stop dreaming about these stuffs to have a perfect figure! But being a Bengali woman, I have finally made an advantage out of it. Unlike the vegetarian ladies, I can still be alive with the "phishes" of our Bengal.

My tongue salivating and my heart plunging , each time I see a fish and my mum screaming at me-- Tomake ami ekta vegetarian barite biye debo, dehko!! (I will marry you off to a house of vegetarians, you see!!)

And there, again breaking my heart with these words!!

Santa- On A Break!!!! :) (Part 2)

Its been nearly 3 weeks that Santa and Miss.Sweetingle were having the most ecstatic time of their lives. Santa, never in his life, did think about having so much fun. He knew he was perfectly in love! He was happy.

Santa and Miss.Sweetingle were currently settling in India. How lovely is the country,Santaaaaa!! Was Miss.Sweet's first comment when they stepped on it. Christmas was in 1 more day but well, Santa had no gifts for the children! He had long ago made up his mind only to enjoy himself this year, without worrying about the children all over the world.

It was quite a beautiful day when he and his partner went out to chill again. Santa had kept an outlook for the children. The children somehow didn't seem too happy to Santa! They seemed mournful, babies crying on the laps of their mothers, they didn't even had the shelter to save them, nor even the food! Santa knew he was the symbol of love and happiness and Mr.Black probably had captured the children in his absence. The children wasn't happy anymore! They were a soul with no care! They lacked love and joy.

Santa grew impatient. Miss.Sweetingle saw the drastic change in Santa's behavior. He too didn't seem happy! She asked him-- What is it, Santaaa?? Are you kinda sad??

No! I think we ought to go back!

But why, Santaaaa?? Are you not enjoying with me??

Santa grinned-- Its not that, Sweet!

Then what is it??

They all are so sad, Sweet! I have been really selfish!! They need me. I am their Guardian, Sweets! They are my babies! I love them!! :(

Miss.Sweetingle smiled and replied-- I'm glad you haven't changed yet,Santaaaa! I was so worried when you told you need a break!! I actually took you here so that you can see how sad and needy they are without you, dear! They are indeed our babies! We got to protect them! :) Let's go back and arrange all the gifts for them!

Ohh!! Sweets! I'm so lucky to have you! I just hope Mr. Black doesn't win over happiness! Let's so back immediately!! :) We gotta save our babies!

Within an hour Santa was on his way back to his home!

2012, DECEMBER, NORTH POLE--

Do you have all the stuffs ready, dear Santaaaa????

Oh!! Yeah, Sweet! Will very soon be on their way dear! :)

Santa turned into beet red while reading her reply-- Awwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!! Santaaaaaa!!!! I love you so much, my fattyyyy oldie babyyyyy Santaaaa!! :* :)

Santa -- On a break!!!! :) (Part 1)

2012, OCTOBER , NORTH POLE----

SANTA was busy washing his face and belly- length long bleached beard! The wrung look on his face made it very clear that he was recently being on pins and needles! He frowned! He took his soft towel and began rubbing his face harshly!! "OOOOOuuuuuchhhhh" - he screeched tingly!

Again it was him who forgot that he was no more a young lad! He was old- pretty old to do something like that so very rigidly! He took out his mobile phone from the drawer near his bed, and searched for the New Message option. It wasn't anywhere to be seen!! He pressed on the menu options but couldn't see a single option that flashed on his mobile phone!! A prod poked his mind and he narrowed his lacteous eyebrows! Aahh well, it had been nearly 10 decades he had bought this mobile phone! He should have bought a new one!! He wasn't too poor to buy a Tab or Note 2, its just that he didn't have the time to shop for his own bounty needs!! His anger took a peak of its own and he threw the phone. It flew high and crashed against the wall of his room! Santa got up angrily and went into the kitchen! He searched for some left stuffs that could treat his huge handsome breadbasket but there he was- couldn't see a single stuff he wished for! Where did all the cookies went to?? Were they stolen??!! Or did he forget his spectacles in the bathroom again?! Oh No! He was just cooking with gas, he frowned again! He hastily ran towards his bathroom!!  How could he even forget about the spectacles????!! His right eye was disrupted with a minus 82 power and his left eye, huh, well, with almost a century! He put on his spectacles and all thanks to the Almighty, everything seemed smooth and perfect!! :)

He ran to his room and picked up the phone he threw minutes ago!
God!! Please keep it alive!! I love my phone!!

His cell phone was perfectly alright! :) He thanked God, kissed his phone and blessed Nokia! :)

Santa's mobile beeped and he saw a message flashing on its screen.

Do you have all the stuffs ready, dear Santaaaaa?!

Miss.Sweetingle never missed a chance to talk to Santa and well, Santa?! He absolutely loved it!!!!

No!! I'm certainly not going there again!! And you know, this time its an oath. -_-

Awww!!!! :O  No Santaaaaa!  :( Don't do this! There are millions and billions of sweet children waiting for you! You can never hurt them, you know!!

Santa, pressed the reply button angrily-- I don't care anymore! I don't give them a damn, Sweet!! Its time I worry about myself and you yours!! They wait for me for one damn night and that also for the gifts I give them! They don't love me, but my gifts! They are selfish and its time for me to act their way! I need a Break!! And its also time for me to take some much, much needed rest. So bye! Catch you later, lady!

Within seconds his phone beeped again! Ohh!!!!!! Santaaaaa!!!! :( How can you be sooooo selfish?!!! Ok bye Santaaaaa!! You just made me cry!!!!! :'(

Santa was just going to switch off his cell phone, when he read the last "damn" line of her last text!! He couldn't but text her back.

Ohh!! Honey!! I'm so sorry!  Ok!! I will go just because you say but I have no intentions to miss you again, Sweets!! :(
And you know, its such a hectic journey all over the world! Children these days stay awake just to see me and I so have to wait for them until they fall asleep and then peep inside, and even sometimes some of them suddenly wake up,it really gets too pathetic for me, sweet! Anyways, I will go just because you say,  my love! :)

Ohhhh!!!! Santaaaa I soooo love you my oldie babyyyy!!!! I'm sooooo sorry! I was thinking about those children and not about you, my love!! I couldn't be more selfish to you!!!! :(
I have an ideaaaaa!! :)  Let's go there but make it something very different and exciting this time!! Let's teach them that they don't deserve the beautiful gifts if they are that selfish to you!! What say?? :) ;)

Santa aroused his eyebrows after reading her message!! He started typing-- What love??

Ohh!! My oldie babyyyy, let's go there together this time and enjoy ourselves! I have always wanted to see how they live and this could be an exciting journey for you and me! <3 :)
No gifts for them this Christmas! ;)

Really Sweet??!! Yaayyy!!!! I would love to go with you ,love!! Done!! We are flying there this winter!! :)

Santa went red and blushed while reading her reply-- Then next month itself, babyyyy!!!!! I Love you so much ,my fattyyyy oldie babyyyy Santaaaa!!!! :* :*

Yeh Dil Mange More!!!!

They went out for a movie without her being aware of what was saturating inside his heavy mind. Her eyes were fixed satisfyingly on the large screen glowing in front of them. The actors and the romantic songs made her dream about their romantic and ecstatic future together. She knew she was all his and he was just hers. The movie ended and they stepped out of the multiplex. Oh!! It was raining heavily and they didn't have even an umbrella to give them refuge. They took off their shoes and started walking across the road as it was pretty late! She was holding his hand tightly as if he was the only one she had. She loved him for her life and loved each moment he was with her. The heavy rain didn't bother her at all, it was only him in her mind. She trusted him. The ghastly rain prevented even a single person to come out on the roads. But the couple was too much engrossed in themselves to bother about the rain and the people. The road was deserted. He took her to a more lonely lane and suddenly pulled her towards him. She was in total shock. She pushed him hard but there he was, preventing her to breathe as he kept on kissing her! She pushed him more and more and then retreated herself. It was just her love which made her kiss him back.

They came out from the lane and started walking in the rain. She was literally unable to look into his eyes, and his handsome, young face. She was blushing! She just had her first kiss even without her being awake at the moment. She dreamed of her first kiss many a times before but it was absolutely different but that didn't stop her from loving it.

Suddenly he broke the silence in between them and asked her-- Hey!! Why aren't you talking?! Let's go back. Yeh dil mange more!! :D

And she found herself saying-- Ohh!! Shut up!!

She still remembers their first kiss, but may be he doesn't! She cries hoping he will be back again to her and take her to that lonely lane! He is no more with her, and the sole reason is-- His Dil actually Mange more always!!!! He has forced her to kiss, then a little more and then a little more. And she has always refused to the little more and well, it led him to some other girl who would actually give him "that little more"!!!!

Moral of the story-- Even an advertisement can ruin a relationship!!!! Beware guys!!

P.S.- Hope this will be never your story!!

Lots of love,Preeti! :)

Calls From Her Mind!! :)

I was walking when I came across a manhole. I had my best friend beside me and we were too busy talking to each other. And just when I was about to pass the manhole, I stepped on it and it skid opened and I found myself hanging half inside it and half outside! My best friend was trying to pull me up but to no avail. I was screaming out of my life when I suddenly jumped up on my bed! Huhhhh!!!!! It was a dream-- well, just a dream!! I was baffled out and was extremely scared. The dream just seemed to be real and too factual!!

Well, this is not a post about Manholes but about Us-- Women!! :)

Men often complain that they don't get a hint about what we,viz, women do and think!! It's a post to allay their trouble!! One true thing about women is that we always worry too much!! Women are born worriers!! We just can't help it! Its not that we only worry about our loved ones, but we tend to worry on behalf of our friends, our neighbors, their dogs, their maids, our Uncle's-daughter's-son's-wife, someone we just met, well-- who else not?!

Its always the exact scenario with me! I have always found myself building up exaggerated delusions in the air whenever any of my closed ones are out to some work and they are being late!
I give up on my chores and sit to bother about that person! If its raining, I seem to get too sure that he / she have been attacked by a thunder and well, then I start to panic! Or I get too sure that he / she have been kidnapped or may be ransacked and that's the reason they can't possibly call home back!! My mother is exactly like this! And I never get too irked when she calls me 10 times within 10 minutes just to be sure that I am fine and I have not been kidnapped or raped!! I absolutely understand her!! :p

Whenever I pass by a manhole, I never ever could stop wondering myself to be inside it, crying in pain and flinch in distress at this very uneasy thought! And so, whenever I am walking with my loved ones on the road, I keep on warning them about not to step on the manhole!!

While watching the news of some disaster, I never stop wondering about my loved ones and myself in that very situation! I see the news and keep on wondering what if I was there with my family?! What if I got stuck there and lose my family?! And there, genuine prayers cross my minds for the victims!!

It's absolutely not that we women love to torture ourselves with these odious thoughts!! Its just that these uninvited calls pay a visit to our minds without even a prior warning!!

But if you try to ponder about this fact, you will surely know that we women are the emblem of love!! Through these constant worries, we tend to get attached to our friends and others! Whenever our friends are in a patch of trouble or distress, we feel their pain and thus we get to help them very genuinely!

Whenever we call you and shout in anger because your phone was in silent mode and you missed our calls, its just because we care!

If  you are being late and we call you or text you constantly, its just because we care!! (Just to make sure that you reach home safely without falling into any manhole!! )

Its not always that she is possessive or controlling!! She just cares for you and makes sure to be always with you when you are facing a battle in your life!!

The fact is we make sure we are prepared for the worst! May be this is only the effect of over bothering about stuffs that we handle the situations more maturely and quickly!! The fact that a woman is bothering and worrying about you on your behalf, makes her sure that she is in love with you!! :)
We panic, we cry but we make sure that you guys are never alone in distress even when you leave us alone in our distress! We visualize ourselves in the worst situations and get the courage and guts to face them alone, single-minded!!

It's just that we need love and understanding from others when we behave immaturely sometimes! It's just that we need two arms holding us tight when we cry out of the most stupid thoughts!

But yeah!! Most of all, we need the time to ponder about the parlous things that could make us suffer and panic and yes, its just to help you!! ;) :)

A Plea To The Government By A Woman!!

I couldn't hold myself back when suddenly I switched on the Television that night! After surfing a lot of channels, the News Channel appeared right in front of me! I have never been that great news freak (except when its about terrorist attacks or anything concerning women!)
I was horrified when the dirty terrifying news flashed in front of my eyes-- A JOURNALIST HAS BEEN GANG RAPED IN MUMBAI!! Aaaagggghhhh!!!!! Not Again!!!!

I was tremendously frantic and switched off the television then and there! How can some people be such savage beasts?! This is probably the most common news going on recently, all over the Indian news channels-- RAPES! We are truly fed up!

Indian society has become one of the most disgraceful society in the world! (This is when being an Indian seems to be abashing to me.) We women have no means to be really safe out on the Indian streets. Our parents and well-wishers panic each time we go out to work. The men of our society deem themselves to be the most powerful species on this Earth, and women, well, they are just a meager coterie! Indian society (I know I am at sin, but), I had to blame this on very "You"! It is You who have stabbed this very unkind and brutal mentality of looking down upon the women and making the freaking advantage out of them! It is certainly You for whom the ferocious and wild beasts are (without a second thought) raping the women (believed to be Goddess!) of our country! It is You for whom, we women are darn scared to get out of our home alone! It is no doubt, You for whom even today we women are not being respected!

Our Indian society needs to take a break from its insanity! It needs to stop being mendacious about "the safety of its women"!!!!! We women really have had enough of You!!
The morbid politicians who are busy feigning and fighting for the Golden seat needs to be abrogated from our society! And this is possible, only by us! We, the abased citizens of India, need to ponder much more about the safety of our women! The society needs to chastise the ill, sick, cruel brutes to death! They should penalise them in such a crude manner that any further brutish people stop wondering to rape women, to even maltreat women and the girls! How can the government just sit back and do absolutely nothing even when thousands of women are being tortured by these horrendous beasts??!!

Its truly nothing but shame, that these beasts are even raping 5 year old little girls!! And the society-- Yes this very own society are blaming us,women for these rapes?! It says that we women are ourselves responsible for being raped!! That, we expose and reveal and thus these beasts are getting provoked!! Really?! Is this the real scenario?! But the news says that even little girls are being raped and even the women who wear nothing but sarees and salwars! Now my question is-- what on Earth are they revealing?! Are the politicians truly sick?! We live in such a country where the women are taught how to be safe from getting raped but the men are not taught "NOT TO RAPE"!

As I said, there's no doubt, the politicians and the government need a break! They are so much engrossed in making black money with the government's money (paid by us!) that they are talking rubbish and nonsense! They are simply out of their minds! Well, if only they possess one!

And this sick mentality of our society will never ever change until the parents put their "sons" higher than their "daughters"! We women will never be respected until and unless the parents stop giving the "bigger piece of  the fish" to their son while their daughter receives  the smaller one! This will never stop unless the parents educate their son in a well known English medium school while the daughter of the same parents goes to the Vernacular medium school! This will really never stop until the parents dream about their son to be a very good source of income and well-settled in his life while they dream about their daughter to get married to a very good groom!! Yes, this will never stop until and unless we stop differentiating between the boys and the girls! Grow up, people! This is the 21st century and we women are equally competent as you men are! Well, we women are better competent than you (whether you like it or not!) And this is the hell of a reason why you men should and must respect us women!

A last plea to the "men" (as they consider themselves to be) of our society and our "concerned" government, Forget about respect, we women deserve at least SAFETY!!!!

An Ode To My City!

Its been beyond 2 decades when I arrived on this Earth only to belong to this city! I caught myself napping and went unaware of the whole lot of things that I would be soon sharing with her, with my city! How this lifeless city started to care so much about me, my life, my emotions, each time I buckle under its anonymous heed and care. She laughed with me when I laughed, she cried to death when I went full of rue, I never got a chance to be alone ; no matter how much I considered myself to be all alone and hermit and escaped from this worldly pleasures! She followed me wherever I went! She guarded me with all her motherhood and love!

She offered me things that no one else did, nor even tried to! She made me feel always at home, listening calmly to whatever I had to complain and share! It was holy serene to me, her love, her patience, her Almighty attitude towards me and my ever fluctuating emotions. After all that I blurted out to her, in anger, in dismay,in grief or in exult, each time, she joined with me and taught me how to be absolutely halcyon. She taught me how to handle the troubled things with care and tenderness. She taught me to love with all I have, she taught me never to cheat, she taught me to be with others when they need me! She taught me all the impossible stuffs I have hardly ever imagined about! She couldn't be any less than my mother for whom I am the serene world!

But what if you only render to have nothing in return?! Won't it really hurt you?! May be , not at first but eventually it will once, for sure!! This is what may, have happened to my lovely city, the one I thought to be lifeless and barren. She wasn't so! She was full of life and soul and I have learnt it of late! But she was so tranquil that I didn't even think about her emotions and feelings! She had always been a constant and worthy companion to me whereas I failed to do so! I failed each time when she needed me beside her, to share her anger, her joy with me! I have been such a brat that I was completely engrossed with my own needs and I forgot about my mate that even she needed me.

I have never felt this mournful in ages when suddenly she started pouring her heart out! At first, I was typically overjoyed as I saw the lovely raindrops falling down on the earth and settling as dew on the evergreen leaves! It was such a scenic beauty I saw after years that I felt a calm solace within my soul!
I jumped out from the edge of my bed (which is just beside the window) to take a closer look to it. I sat beside the window and quietly watched the lake beside my house shivering wildly while it rained heavily!

The rain continued for more two days and did not stop even for an hour! Ohh!! Then I realized how much she had to tell me, to make me feel about her very wounded soul! I didn't know why but I felt a huge lump inside my throat! May be, the reason was my own, but to start with, I was down in the dumps then and I cried in doldrums! I wept and wept along with my very own city! We seemed to be the best friends ever, crying in each others' distress! I realized how much she needed me and I have never given enough of myself to her! We sat hugging each other there and sharing every little tidbits of life! The next day, the rain stopped! I woke up feeling amusingly pleasant after a long time! Having a bestfriend that too, very unknown to you but always beside you is so blessed! The weather seemed so pleasant and beautiful that day; it made me smile! Ohh!! Yeah! Even without a reason!!

Well, with a reason that others won't likely figure out! ;)     I love you, my Kolkata! :)

Much Love,
Preeti! :)

Does "All Work and No Play" Make Jack Only a Dull Boy??!!

Its a Monday morning!! We all generally abhor the Sunday night itself for letting us to be so near to the Monday morning. I feel so groggy at times when I even think of the weekdays! To me, my college life do corresponds to something so tied up, so slaving at times that I end up being wrathful about it, often!

Every teenager do have a wish to live and spend their college life in amusement, bantering and jesting along with their friends. Likewise, so did I. But then, I was very well unaware of these frantic stuffs that would one day make me go nuts about my college life!!

Speaking about my college, lets firstly say that we do really have a college uniform! (like the little kids who go to schools holding their parents' hands with the fear of getting lost! ) Yeah! We do!! How I loathe this!!
College days become more and more humdrum when we ought to wear a single, boring uniform to the college each and everyday!!(Its been a rule that all the engineering colleges must have uniforms of their own! :( )  Secondly, miserably we are just unable to get out from the college premises till the college schedule ends!
We cannot bunk classes, we have to rather sit and dodge the whole draggy day while the professors go on with their lectures!

Well, then we must be having fun at least on the weekends, isn't it?! Aah!! There again you went wrong and me as well!  Our weekends are totally occupied with Assignments!! Assignments which we have to submit on the very next week to the professors! It feels so hot under the collar that sometimes I feel school days were much more fun!! (Atleast having my best friend around always). This so deranged college life even holds me back from pursuing my passion- my writing! Sometimes a week passes by and I'm not even aware of it! Then suddenly I jump out and start to pray for some time off so that I can sit with my computer for long!!

And yes, Monday morning is this dandy time for me!! :)

Well for me, Sunday and Monday are the weekends and Tuesday is the Monday for me!

Even though I have assignments to complete, I have always loved to first switch on my computer and open my zealous blog because................ =>

But what made me think is these frantic schools and colleges that are proudly giving birth to future citizens!! Will these future generation really have plenty of rope to curtail the crimes of our government and society?! Will the men and the women have the liberty to know and understand what is right and wrong for themselves and the society and reckon to the best?! Will not they correspond to Jack in the "All Work and No Play makes Jack a dull boy"?! Well, only dull?!! No there's a lot more!

I wish the people and the government start to think and measure things differently and from our perspective! I wish, the little kids still have a plenty of time to play and nurture themselves! I wish we still have large playgrounds and see-saws for the children to run around and play! I wish the schools do not become a threat to the children's liberty! I wish, in order to score the highest marks in schools and colleges, we don't surrender ourselves to our sordid inside, we do not lose the immunity to weigh the right things for us! I wish we see beautiful little kids playing and knowing the world outside the books! I wish we have an intelligent and praise-worthy society!! Not one who is always fighting only for his success!!

I just wish so!! :)

The Devil Within!!

Everyone around us wants to be the best vividly. We constantly fight with our lifestyle and recreate our ego in a very spurious manner just to be the Best in every way possible. We are entangled in such a way that we hardly feel the presence of virtue! Ego and haughtiness become the very ligature around us! We are unable to combat ourselves out from this stifle like situation. And then there it is-- we start faking on others to get over them, to outstrip them!

But are we really faking on them??

In the process of faking others, we are losing ourselves to the devil! Our souls, our inner strength and beauty are thus losing whatever Holy it had and are rendering our souls to the vicious lord! We start to become selfish. Others' success makes us utterly jealous! Jealousy vanquish our inner beauty! We then strive only to make the successful person down, only to beat him or her in every possible way and thus we start to cheat on others, our relatives, our friends, and our closed ones!!
We forget the meaning of a lovely, true relationship! We act helpless and inadvertent. All that matters to us is how to bring that person down and how to overpower him / her. In order, we lose friends, we lose our loved ones!
We remain all alone! Above all, we lose our self respect!! Others start to look down to us when they come to know that we were actually cheating on them behind their backs and hence backstabbing!

To me, jealousy ruins every bit of happiness in our lives! How stupid is it not to be happy when some one else is successful and happy in their lives?! How can you not laud the merits or talents the other person has, just because you are a little less than him / her?! What type of a friend are you if you cannot rejoice in your friend's success?! No one, really no one, wants such a sham friend in their lives! We, hence, need to change. We, hence, need to be a good soul!!

We get jealous when we know that we are actually incapable of doing better than the other person and we have nothing to do! We get spurious, we cheat on our friends, we become evil, greedy and narrow-minded and then we lose them! We should always remember that if we ever want others' lives to be at stake, we are the ones who are creating hassles and fatal fortune for ourselves! We are only messing up our own lives! And trust me, nothing can be worse than that ever!!

Thus, lets try to be happy when others are happy! Lets not try to mess up anyone's life, let's not cheat on anyone, or deteriorate ourselves as a person!!

Let's not try to hold our self respect at stake in whatever we do, we pray and we achieve! Is it a real achievement if we get it by faking others?!

Only when we achieve something by working hard ourselves genuinely enough, will give us the real, true happiness! Otherwise, a guilt will always act in the way of our joy and success!! The guilt, the shame will be our constant companions throughout our lives and that is no doubt, fatal for us to be happy and relieved! Being kind to others makes you a better person! Once you start loving and praising others for what good they do and not harm them in any way intentionally, you will start to feel how beautiful you are from within! And that's the only trick to be truly happy in your life!! :)

Ending my post with a very good luck and wishes so that you become successful in being a truly good human being! :)

P.S.-- Hope you liked it and I hope my post will be useful to at least one among the readers! I really want the people to change regarding this and hence the post! If you have something to share ( regarding this), you are always welcomed in my comment box! I will love to read them and learn from them!

Blogaddict Me!!

Shunning away from my blog for more than a month has eventually paid back! It is only me who can describe the feeling, the pinning I used to get during my semester was on and even before it had started! Writing to me is Holy! I live to write. I can even stay away from reading new books for a month but staying away from writing always had made me itch! I used to sit with my computer software and hardware books, read a page and think about my blog! It wasn't being updated for more than a month but that wasn't it , what was making me restless. I wanted to write and just write! I took out a page and started to write there. It made absolute sense to me. It helped me to stop being that fidgety. But how long can I not see my own blog?! It was taking a height of restiveness! Still I stayed away from my computer just to have a good result in my semester!

This wasn't the end! Even when I switched on my pc to run my programs and codings, my palms itched to connect the internet browser! But still I managed to dodge that browser! Spending a whole darn month and a few weeks more this way, isn't that easy! But now I don't regret that, the reason being all my hard work has paid! :)

My results are out and I am the 2nd topper of my department!! I am still beaming! :)

I was used to such results when I was in school and after 2 years am back again with a bang! So, finally I am happy! I really don't regret those days anymore! Pinning for my blog has brought some meaning to it!

I have always believed in working hard! At least, I haven't earned anything without working hard. And writing is my love! So, trying to shirk from it while I only study all day and night, was something real tough for me.

Now that my next semester will be again in 4 months and I have to again stay away from my blog for months, I thought to jot down some points so that it can be easy for me to concentrate on my studies! And even you, who are reading my blog can find it useful to try to shun your addiction for something fruitful in life!

I am talking about all the addictions one can have! For instance, let me tell you that I am totally addicted to my blog! And unlike, other addictions, being addicted to blog or writing is way far better and useful. This is something very special about this addiction! So may be this is fatal only during one's exams, not otherwise, unlike the other addictions!

So, I will be talking here about all the addictions and how to get over them.

Firstly, we have to be very much concerned about what is more important to us! Like my exams were much more important at that time than my blog! Blog is my passion but that was the time when studying was my need! If we are clear about what is important to us, we are already half there in what we are trying to achieve.

Secondly, whenever we itch or start to pin for that one thing (may be fags or blog or alcohols or anything), we must think about its ill effects! More often, its ill effects cannot stop us from fetching it again! But we have to be strong enough to have the strength to shun it away! It will ultimately lead to happiness!

Thirdly, pinning for some days will bring joy later on and trust me that joy will be much bigger than we can imagine! Whenever we ought to think about it, we must try to divert our minds! Think about what's more problematic than it! Life has a lot of stuffs to make you sad! So, we can even sometimes try to solve out those things by thinking carefully about the solution. If we get totally engrossed about that very problem in our life trying to solve it, we can get rid of the itching for quite a lot of time! It helps!

Fourthly, it is the time to keep yourself busy! Do anything and everything! Just keep yourself busy.

Fifthly, You have nothing to do??!! Well, go out for a walk. Watch the sun setting, watch the birds chirping, watch the water sprinkling in the lake! Seems poetic?! But trust me, whatever you do whole heartedly can never create a single space for your bad addiction! If you are determined, it is bound to happen! Make yourself the master of your mind, not the other way round!

Trying to avoid addiction is tough, no doubt! But nothing is impossible!! So go for it! Try it out!

And if you are pinning to get an addiction, start a blog! ;) Its no doubt, far better than smoking fags or something that evil! ;) At least the time you spend thinking what to write will be useful to stop your harmful addiction!

Much Love,
Preeti! :)

25 UNUSUAL FACTS ABOUT ME!! :)

This is my 25th post and as it is known to be, it is my "silver jubilee" post! So I thought to make it a little bit different and special! As it is my own post, I thought to write about myself here. What else can be more special to me?! And as it is my 25th post, so I have decided to write about "25 unusual or secret facts about myself".

So here they go:-

1.I am inspired by the women with brains rather than beauty! You can be the ugliest, but if you are kind, true, intelligent and smart, then you are my friend!

2.Success motivates me more than failure! Failure keeps me depressed for no reason at all. Once I succeed in doing something, it motivates me to try out other difficult things as well!

3.I have gone through tough times in life (at least more than other people of my age). But yeah, if you talk to me, you won't get a single hint about my real life! I can't really crack 50 jokes in few minutes but can make you laugh constantly! That's how I am! But from a distant, I am quite a serious one! ;)

4.I love women with short hair! They look extremely sexy and confident to me! And so, even I have decided to cut my long hair shorter! I loved Winona Ryder in Girl Interrupted! I have never seen a woman so beautiful in short hair and loose tees!

5.I find smoking classy, sexy and smart! In fact the women who smoke get higher points than men who do, according to me! ;)

6.I feel bragging about yourself is helpful, sometimes!

7. I just don't trust anyone except my family and my best friend! Yup, that's darn true.

8. I can happily murder someone who dares to speak a word against my mom, dad, sister and my best friend! Oh! C'mon I know them better and longer than you do!

9. I hate alcohols! The reason being its bitterness! And yeah, I don't LOVE chocolates like all the ladies do! I know I am at sin! :D

10. Any guy thinking to hit on me should very well know that I'm not really interested into any kind of shits right now and may be ever! I am too busy and happy dealing with my own life.

11.I have a thing for sling bags! Well, my birthday is approaching! ;) :p

12. I even have a thing for Vin Diesel and Taylor Lautner! They are hot! ;)

13.When I am sad or pissed off, I really don't need anyone to HUG me! I just need some time to be alone! I want to sit alone, I want to sleep alone, I want to cry alone, I want to be all alone through out the day and night till I get back to my normal self and trust me, if I get to be really alone, it doesn't take much time to get back to myself again!

14.I know how to swim to save my life! How I wish I could perfectly learn it more!

15. I detest guys who think girls can't do things on their own! And trust me, I am no more friends with those guys who tried to show extra pity on me trying to help me out just because I am a girl and tried to prove himself Caring! Huh! This is how you lose me,see! Guys, we can do things on our own, at least we do it better than you! So chill! ;)

16. I can't stand those people who get happier when a son is born in their family than a daughter, even in this generation! Specially, when they are themselves a woman!

17. If I am not happy with you (i.e, if you can't make me happy), I can eventually dump you! See, its not my fault. My motto is to be happy in life and I can't keep those people in my life who are a pain in my butt!

18.I love Amruta Patil's writing! She is such an effortlessly elegant writer! She inspires me to become an artist!

19.My solution when I am sad or angry or even tired-- 1. Cooking! Even making some french fries or a normal sandwich makes me happy again! :)  2. Shopping! :p (This proves I am a girl!)

20.I am scared of operations like anything! I hate scissors and all those stuffs that are needed in operations!

21.I love animals! I find pride in lions and tigers even though they scare the hell out of me! But there's one that I hate and I freak out. Its a snake! I can't stand a snake!

22.I am a book worm and a great foodie! I can happily get locked in a room for thousand days with only books and food! And no, I will not even need a cellphone!(My mom will love me after reading this, I bet!)

23.I don't like romantic movies! Yeah, some I do, but not all! I love movies that make me think what the next scene can be but there it proves me wrong always!

24.I like guys with a good physique, and good smell. Looks, to me, are secondary! And I always go for guys who are smarter in true sense (not those who try to be one) and can actually speak good in English! And the opposite I hate! And those who smell like they haven't bath for a month or so and have no balls to speak properly in front of people, just irk me!

25. Last but not the least, I can be too loyal to you! Sometimes even if you hurt me or cheat on me, I can still help you forgetting your sins! So you are lucky!

Loads of love and best wishes!

Let's Not Judge Who They Are!!

I am in such a state of mind at present that first I say something odd or rude to someone and then think and regret "Why did I say so?!" and then after a minute or so, something out of the blue pops into my mind and I start to think -- " What the hell?! Let's see what happens!! "

Is this a change in me?! Oh well! May be!

I was sitting alone today morning and doing my assignments when this sudden thought blew me off!

I thought to myself " People say we change! And I finally did! Why do I sometimes react so much or get pissed off so darn easily?!"

Then again something bothered me saying that I haven't changed yet! I did realize I go really wild in anger when some one tries to judge me blatantly! Aah! Yes! It even makes me yell at that person.

Now you can very well understand my today's topic!!

I have been thinking since a long time to write about "Not to judge" anyone! And yes, today's the day. Yes, you should not judge anyone ever! Well, now you want to know the reasons!! Why cannot you judge anyone?! Not even if they have hurt you like anything or they are the one for whom your life has changed?! You must have the right to judge them, isn't it?! Well, for me-- Its a Big NO!!

And the biggest and the most important reason is : You don't know in what situation he/she was when he/she took the odd decision. You don't know their lives! You don't know in what mental state they are, when they wake up or go to sleep. In short, you know nothing about them! You can only see what they did, not what they have gone through. (to do it)

We people often forget about others when it comes to us! "I" become the ultimate thing to us. All we know is-- I, me and Myself!! And that's the source from where we start to judge people around us! We forget the situations they are in and judge them accordingly! One person, sadly, is judged differently by different people! Aah! Now you say, how can one person be of so many different characters?!

Its probably difficult not to judge anyone but we must try to put ourselves in their shoes and then watch where it takes us. We can only then know how right the other person was!! And even we can see our mistakes then to which we are blind now!
How can we forget that if all the people can make mistakes, so can we?!

Judging others have a loads of  ill effects too! (If only we can state it like that)

Firstly, We lose friends. We tend to judge our friends and then we lose them! (If not literally, then from heart.)

Secondly, we feel guilty of doing so when we come to know the truth. We often judge those people who are totally innocent. And later on we regret on doing so.

Thirdly, We become emotionless, selfish and evil. Yes we do.

Fourthly, At the end of the day we become all alone!

And....

Lastly, if we want others not to judge us, we must stop it ourselves first! Isn't it??!!

Guys, its time we change.

Lets not make it that difficult for the other person. It's their life, they exactly know how to deal with it. We are no one to judge them. We must be more concentrating on our lives so that no one else get a chance to judge it!

And Life is one! Live it the way you want! What others think about you is none of your business and that should really not be an issue to you! Chill out like you never ever did before. Dump some one if they are really making you unhappy!  Do what makes you happy and for the people who judge you??!! Well, do hell with them!! ;) :D

See you soon,
Till then
Loads of Love and Good Wishes. :)

To Eat Or Not To Eat

1 week ago! This was the 8th time I decided to go for dieting. I'm a big time foodie and I love to eat. But just to stay fit, I tried out dieting. I eat a lot but I'm too a fitness buff! I love to be in the right shape and a little bit of jutting out makes me tedious.  So there I decided to start my dieting! Little food each time you eat and no french fries, potato chips, or anything I love! Difficult, eh??!! Yeah, I know! But I started.
Hardly 1 week and there all my potential of dieting vanished!! Well, this isn't the first time, I told you, its the 8th time!!
So now I have decided not to diet anymore. I simply can't stay out of good food and curse myself for letting them go! Instead I have decided to exercise regularly and jog at least for 15 minutes daily. Not to be in right shape, but to be fit! Because I'm quite in a good shape! ;)
Yeah, I know I'm kind of boasting but how I love to showcase something good I have! ;)
Exercise is my regular companion since the last year! And so what's the new thing have I started?! Yes, I do a lot more than exercise. I wake up, do the yoga (half an hour seems cool to me) and then sit to meditate (another half an hour). And missing out exercise and meditation for a day makes me so jittery!! Am I turning spiritual?! Well, may be! Even nowadays I'm loving to read spiritual books. But I don't mind doing anything that keeps me fit and energetic and happy! Yes, meditation even allows one to forget all the pain or worries and give them the potential to deal with them tactfully!
Wanting to know more about meditation?? Click on this link--http://www.easwaran.org/learn-how-to-meditate.htmlIts such a wonderful thing I have started. Sitting still and meditating doesn't seem to be any hassle to me! Its much more easier than all the hassles I have and am going through in my life!! Life seems better now and peaceful.
So, I won't be eating less! I can't do that ever. But now I don't have to really be worried about fitness too!
:)
Anyone wanting to be fit and energetic, I would suggest to try out yoga and meditation regularly! It really helps!! :)

Much Love! :)

Love,Friendship And The Ride

I was having my even semester holidays. I had to meet my best friend in more half an hour but I wasn't dressed yet! I was just being a lazy bum that day and was listening to music. Finally I crept out off my bed sadly enough with the thought of dressing up and getting out of my house again! I somehow dressed and got out and hurried.

She came and we hastily went to the cake shop. We were eating when she suddenly told me-- Hey!! Why don't you ride my cycle for sometime?!

I gave her a smile and replied-- No thanks! Its been years I used to ride one! I almost forgot and I will surely fall down if I try now!

She said (giving me a jittery look)-- No one ever forgets to ride one,if they have learnt it. So stop hesitating and get up.

I was really at my wits end when she started pushing me to get up on the bicycle! I got really pissed off and told her-- If I fall down, I will never talk to you! I mean, why even am I talking about falling down! I will not even get up on it. There are those little guys playing over there and can you just imagine what will happen if I fall down right infront of them! Maddy, you are crazy!!!!

Maddy said-- Yeah! I can! Now shut up and get up on it.

"NO Maddy please!!!! I'm really so scared!!"

After more 2 minutes I found myself sitting on it and trying to paddle! (Maddy holding the cycle from behind)

"Maddy please don't leave the bicycle! I will fall off!! Please!!"

"Arrey!! I'm not leaving. You concentrate on your ride!"
And I jumped off it!!  :D

The same thing happened for more than 20 times! Yes, I am not making it up even a bit. I was getting up, TRYING to paddle and then asking Maddy not to leave the cycle, otherwise I will fall down and then myself jumping off from it and laughing!!

Maddy got tired of me and said-- Let's go! Its enough!!

I couldn't help myself telling her-- Yeah! Ok!! Just one more time! :p

I got up and again tried to paddle! And to my surprise, I went on smoothly through the lane! When I reached the end I stopped and looked back. I saw her standing at the other end of the lane (It was a long lane) and clapping! Yes, you saw it right!! She was CLAPPING!! And a little boy who was playing with his friends over there, looked at us and smiled! His sweet smile said that I have made it. I was super happy! I smiled and came back!

An old pic in my college

Isn't it enough to say that she had made my day??!!

That day was one of the days I can never forget! May be this is a very small incident but to me its something more than a lot!! She made me achieve so much happiness! I don't have words to make you feel my emotion.

Guys!! Never ever be scared of doing something, never ever be scared of attempting something for the first time. Don't think what other people will think about you or whether they will laugh at you!!

You want it ---- You do it!! As simple as that! :)

See you soon, till then
Much Love!! :)

Happy Ratha-Yatra

Today is a very special day in West Bengal. Today is "Ratha-Yatra".

It is a very well known festival in our state. Lord Jagannath, along with his brother Balaram and sister Shubhadra, is transported (yatra) by a chariot (ratha) in this festival. It is actually the most important festival of Puri, in the state of Orissa. Crores and crores of people and devotees are present here on the day of Ratha-Yatra.

Out of habit, on each day of any festival, the thing I do is google out the history of the festival and origin of the God! Today was no exception. I made out some time from my daily schedule and googled all about the origin of Lord Jagannath and this festival. I love to know all the stories behind these massive occasions!
To know about the origin of Lord Jagannath click here : http://www.shreekhetra.com/jagaorigin.html

As a ritual, in Kolkata, all the children drag their own little chariots with Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Shubhadra sitting inside them. How mesmerizing the scenic beauty is! Here is a picture of the same.

As a child, I too, have dragged my little chariot every year along with my friends. It was such an overwhelming experience and sweet memories that one can hardly forget in a whole lifetime.
So, as I have grown up and can't really go out and drag a chariot with the children, I still can see them and enjoy the day. And what can be more joyous to me than writing about Lord Jagannath and His festival??

Last, but not the least, a picture drawn by my sister:

Wishing you all very very happy days ahead and may you get all that you deserve and may you achieve loads of happiness and success and joy :)
